Insideoutgirl art by Carrie Rose

I prefer acrylic paint over oil any day. I love combining colors and making everything just fall together in my paintings. I’m inspired by every day life. Anything could inspire me. Looking at a shape on a ceiling or wall can create and has created some great pieces.

I love everything and anything on the darker side. That is why I create a lot of art with skeletons and cemeteries. I’m obsessed with anything Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) themed.

I personally do not like to be compared to other artists only because what I create comes from within, and not everyone is the same. We may come up with similar ideas, but they could never be 100% exact.

I try to paint as much as I can, but some days I get that “artists block.” No amount of music or sketches can bring the true emotion and feeling of my art out. But that doesn’t stop me. Sometimes you just have to force yourself and even then you can come up with some wonderful art.

Professional Information:

I am a self-taught, self-employed artist. All my paintings are original pieces, usually painted with acrylic paint on canvas. I am owner/creator of Insideoutgirlart.

In 2000 I started selling portraits of Bettie Page and Marilyn Monroe on Ebay. After getting the hang of acrylics I started creating my own original pieces and have been doing it on and off ever since. I’ve also done several commissions for people all over the world.

Personal information:

Art has been a part of my life since before I entered kindergarten. I started dabbling in the paints when I was 17 when a project for the art class I was in required us to use acrylic paints. Since then, I‘ve been hooked.

Currently I reside in Southern California with my husband of 9 years and our 4 fancy rats.
